Cargo space Garuda Indonesia plane into Wider
Garuda Indonesia is planning to vacate cargo capacity by modifying the existing passenger jets for air cargo services.
“Not only the passenger traffic will rise, but also cargo,” said Satar, Garuda CEO, referring to the rapidly growing traffic in the region of Indonesia, as reported by Reuters on Monday (09/04/2012).
Emirsyah added, with more investment into Indonesia, there is the potential for international air cargo services is greater.
“For now, we will develop a body passenger aircraft, especially for cargo,” he added.
Garuda Indonesia not operate independently cargo plane, but using three Airbus 330 cargo orders. Emirsyah said the cargo plane was scheduled to be delivered in late 2013.
Garuda said it will continue to increase the fleet size of more than 50 percent over the next three years despite the threat of excess capacity arising from rival orders, Lion Air, a short distance from the 230 jet.
